August 2018 Challenge

Hello!!!
Thank you all so much for your amazing creativity for
the July BIRTHDAY Challenge!

In India, we celebrate the wonderful festival of 'Rakshabandhan', in the month of August.
It is a sweet festival where brothers and sisters pledge their love for each other.
The sister ties a thread, usually with a charm on it, around the brothers wrist to signify her love and the brother vows to love and protect her always!

So I thought it would be appropriate to have 'FAMILY' as the theme for the challenge.

Here is the challenge for August 2018.

HOW TO PLAY

Make a card or tag using the theme given.
Take a photo of your creation and link it up below.
If you have a blog, write a post about our challenge and link it back to our challenge, including photos of your card or tag.

INSPIRATION

I have the fabulous

as my Guest designer this month!!
I've gottten to know Tracey through Instagram and am a huge fan of her work. I'm so thrilled she could guest design for my challenge this month.
Here is what she says about her project!

Hi, I'm so excited to be Guest Designer for the July challenge at Paru's  Card Making Challenges!
I'm Tracey McNeely and my blog is In My Creative Opinion
I live in the beautiful Muskokas of Ontario, Canada and I have had a life long love of pretty paper.

This month the theme is FAMILY, and I have a lot of girls in mine.
I am always looking for birthday cards or words of encouragement and the Essentials by Ellen Inner Mermaid stamps and designer dies are perfect for the mermaids in my family.
I started off by laying some Salty Ocean and Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide inks on my craft mat and then it was spritzed with water.
For the card I made a quick pass across the inks with some Bristol Smooth cardstock on an angle so that I didn't transfer the ink on the entire panel and then I set it aside to dry.
Before the ink dried up I took a second panel cut down to 2 3/4" x 4 1/4" of Bristol Smooth and repeated the process for the tag.

While the panels were drying I stamped and heat embossed my images with gold embossing powder on some Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock.
I like to use the thicker cardstock when embossing.
The images were then coloured with Copic markers.

The sentiments were stamped on to both projects with VersaFine Onyx Black
and then I adhered the images with foam tape for dimension.

To inspire you some more,
here is what I made.

I just love this first card!! I used the 'Magical Dragon' stamp set from
My Favourite Things to make this card.
I intended to show the dragon, but it was so cute, that, I didn't think it appropriate to slay it!! ;-P
So, I decided to show just the flames!
Isn't it super cute!
Other stamps used are from Craftangles and Paper Smooches.
I used tim Holtz distress inks to colour.

The second card is a card for brother and sister in law..in some communities in India, rakhis are gifted to sisters in law too. So I decided to make this simple card with two rakhis
for brother and sister in law.
I used Simon says Stamp rectangle dies, Stampin' Up stamps, Flora and Fauna stamps and Die cuts and More dies, to make this card.
Its a fairly simple card. The rakhi is held in place with a piece of washi tape on the inside.

I hope you have been inspired to create a card for a family member!
I'm looking forward to seeing what you create.

As there wasn't much time for last month's winner to design in time for this post, I'll have a winners post up around the 15th of the month..to keep inspiring us.
I will also have a great Guest Designer  creating more brilliant cards to inspire us,
as well as cards designed by the three honorable mentions,
during the month of August,
so stay tuned!

PRIZES

I will choose ONE winner ,

who will then be the GUEST DESIGNER  for the next month's challenge, to be posted around the 15th of the month.

I will also pick THREE other winners for an honorable mention, who will also get an opportunity to design a card each for this challenge blog.

Sounds fun?

INSPIRATION

Today I have the fantastic

of

as Guest designer

Hello Crafty friends,
I am so excited to be back!
This month’s theme is Birthday.

I have used supplies from various brands.
But the idea was to use that word balloon stamp from Mama Elephant.
It was lying in my stash so I decided to ink it up.
I paired it with another ME set – Cat’s Meow .
I have use Copic Markers to colour the images.

The tag die is by L'il Inker Designs and balloons are by Sunny Stamp Studio. (Aren’t they amazing?)
I used  Altenew inks to stamp these layered balloons. Sentiment is by Jane’s Doodles.
I tried to use  similar colours in card and tag to make it look like a set,
even though I have used completely different
 products.
I Hope you feel inspired to take part this month.

To Inspire you some more,
I have a fun birthday card and tag too.
June-July belong to the zodiac sign of Cancer,
so I decided to explore the theme of zodiac signs and constellations.
I printed out a definition of the word 'Cancerian' to highlight their traits,
on a piece of textured cardstock.
I then masked off an area on the card and created a galaxy background using
Tim Holtz distress inks and oxides.
I  drew the constellation 'CANCER' using a white gel pen. I added little stars with the gel pen too.
I added some self adhesive gemstones to add some sparkle to the constellation.
I surrounded this constellation with a birthday die cut circle from MFT dienamics,
and added the stamped sentiment from My Favourite Things stamps' 'Space Explorer' stamp set.

For the gift tag, I started out by stamping the Impression Obsession Rose background with
Tim Holtz 'Black Soot' Distress ink.
I then cut it out into a tag using  Spellbinders Nestabilities dies.
I then added a die cut rose from Winnie and Walter and a gold embossed sentiment from Hero Arts.
I finished the tag with a piece of black bakers twine.

I hope Neha and I have inspired you to come over and play!

PRIZES

I am changing it up from this month onwards!

I will choose ONE winner ,

who will then be the GUEST DESIGNER  for the next month's challenge.

I will also pick THREE other winners for an honorable mention.

Sounds fun?

INSPIRATION

I made three cards  this month...as magic slider cards, to inspire you!

I have used the Lawn Fawn magic slider card die to make all these cards and all the stamps I've used are from My favourite Things.
You will find plenty of tutorials on how to make your own magic slider cards here.
I have also included videos to show how they work.
Once I assembled the magic slider element, I stamped and decorated the backgrounds, stamped the sentiments and adhered the slider to finish the cards.
I have videos of all the cards to show how much fun they are!

Im submitting these cards for the  'LawnFanatics' inspiration board challenge and the
MFT colour challenge.

 To inspire you some more,
This month my Guest Designer is

Deepti Aggarwal

I have been following Deepti for a while now and I just love her creative, simple and oh so fun cards!!

Hello Everyone!
This is Deepti from Vishesh Collections.
I live in Bangalore, India with my husband and two little princesses! (They are 8 and 5 years old).
My girls always keep me busy and their school time is my crafting time..;).
I am a management graduate in Human Resources but I chose to be a stay at home mom. Crafting is a stress buster for me.
I enjoy evry bit of it. I am crafting since 2010 and I love trying my hands on different forms of arts. My style is towards CAS side and mostly bright and colourful.
I am a big critter lover which you can easily notice in my feeds.
Chek out my work at my blog, Facebook and Instagram.
I am so honoured to be chosen as the guest designer for this month at Paru's Card Making Challenges.
Thank you so much Paru for having me,
The theme for this month's challenge is LOVE.
Here is my take on the current challenge using critters from Neat and Tangled "My Favourite Nut" stamp set.

To make this card, I took A2 size white card stock and ink smooshed the background. Once satisfied, stamped some hearts and then added the water coloured tree bark die cut outs from Craftin Desert Divas. Meanwhile stamped, coloured and fussy cut my focal image from "My Favourite Nut" stamp set. Adhered the same with foam tape to add some interest. Finally finished it by adding some stamped acorns and hearts here & there. And here is the tag...

To make this tag, I have used "Heart of Gold Die" from Neat & Tangled. First , I cut out the heart using the same die as my stencil and ink smooshed it. Then attached the heart of gold die cut out using pink paper ribbon. Adhered the cute image to complete it.

I hope that you are inspired to join in the challenge this month to celebrate LOVE. Can't wait to see what you create!! Happy Crafting!! Hugs xx Deepti Aggarwal

I hope you have been inspired to play along with us this month!
I can't wait to see your creations!

INSPIRATION

I've made a lot of cards  to inspire you this month!
The first card is a super simple shaker card using my sponsor Winnie and Walter's 'Cheers' die.
I think it makes a great NEW Years card, hence following the theme of NEW!
The sequins in the shaker are from my sponsor Hndmd.
I cut out a shaker window using Simon Says Stamp stitched square die at an angle to create some interest. I placed the die cut Cheers sentiment across the window to finish the card.

The cute tag below is made using stamps from the Craftangles (by HNDMD) 'Indian Wedding' stamp set, watercolours and concentric stitched dies from Simon Says Stamp.
I decided to leave the focal image black and white and use watercolours around it.
I also added a silver and gold bell for fun. I wish I could make you hear how festive it sounds!

The next card is also made using my sponsor Hndmd's Craftangles 'Indian wedding' stamp set. I stamped, watercoloured and die cut the image and matted it with  a larger die cut of the same shape.
I used patterned paper from Craftangles to create a background for my image. I finished the card with some jute twine from MayArts and some silver and gold bells and sequins.
The sentiment from the same stamp set is typed inside the card.
Weddings are NEW beginnings, so here too I follow the theme of the challenge.

For more inspiration, I made some cards using NEW supplies that I recently purchased!

The first card features the VW Beetle die from Flora & Fauna stamps. The background is white embossed and ink blended and the sentiment is handwritten.
I created the yellow striped using Craftangles 'Stripes' stencil.

I made the card below using my awesome NEW dies from My Favourite Things.
I have been dreaming about making this card!!!
The box die is from Lawn Fawn, the bottles are from MFT and the wood grain stamp is from
Bo Bunny!

For the next card, I used my brand NEW stamps from
Flora and Fauna stamps.
I created the background with Impression Obsession Map stamp and Memento London Fog ink.
I masked, watercoloured and die cut the focal image.
Upon my son's suggestion, I extended the stripes from the focal image onto the background.
I think it creates great interest.

I made the tag/bookmark below using brand NEW stamps from
Three Room Studio, designed by the awesome Sandy Boon!
I used my white Signo gel pen to create interest on the kraft background.

This month my Guest Designer is

She has an amazingly clean style and she has some fun cards to inspire you!

Hello Friends,
I'm Anila.

To begin with, wish you all a very Happy New Year!
May this year bring you lots of creativity and innovations!

I am super happy to be Guest Designing at
Paru's card Making Challenges.

I am a Mumbai based crafter. I was working as an Art and Craft teacher in a reputed school, in Mumbai. I got into blogging and crafting since last year. CAS card making is something I enjoy the most. I am greatly inspired by many crafters around.

You can see more of my work at my blog "Novel Ideas" or my Instagram handle "aniladk"

I am extremely grateful to Paru for giving me this opportunity.

I am sharing a card and tag today which I made based on the current theme of the month
NEW!

I am using a new stamp set here for both my projects.
Also, the sentiments used here are some quotations which I found online and printed out.
The sentiments reflect the new beginnings and the new opportunities brought in by the New Year.

Here is a look at them...

My card is made using MFT(My Favourite Things) Happy Hedgehogs stamp set.
I stamped the images, coloured them with Zig markers and fussy cut them.
I printed the sentiments on white cardstock.
I die cut the sentiment panel using a stitched rectangular die.
On a card base, I adhered the pattern paper from MFT.
I then mounted the rectangular die cut on the base using foam adhesive.
I adhered the images on the card and created the grass effect using pencil colours.

To make this tag, I used the same MFT Hedgehog stamp set. I stamped the image, coloured with Zig and fussy cut the image. On a white tag, I stamped the flower image from the same stamp set using green dye ink. Adhere the MFT pattern paper on the tag.
I printed out the sentiment and die cut the same using the stitiched rectangle die.
I mounted this on the patterned paper using foam adhesive.

I adhered the image on the tag.
Lastly, I added a few sequins and tied the ribbons to the tag.

I hope I was able to inspire you today!
Happy Crafting!!

Anila
